Tom Platz a Heavy Duty Inspiration

Tom Platz also known as “The Golden Eagle” was a professional IFBB bodybuilder back from the late seventies all the way to the late eighties. He is known for his massive leg development and hence earned the name quadzilla, lets just say his legs where a sight to be seen and that one can’t help but notice the blood, sweat and tears that went into building them into the giant tree stumps we know of today. His best result as a professional bodybuilder was third place at the 1981 Mr. Olympia. He is also known for his high intensity heavy duty type training, the same type of training that I preach to my readers.

Tom Platz also knew what worked for his body and utilized it to his advantage. I remember that Tom Platz once stated that he trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger for a while and tried his volume routine. He said that when he did that type of training, he felt weak and instead of growing he in fact lost size. That’s why I always recommend to my readers to experiment in the gym and see what works for them, no two people are the same and what might work for me, might not necessarily work for you.

However, though I am a true believer in the heavy duty type training which I preach to my readers. Lifting weights is more then you just going through the motion, it requires a hundred percent effort, intensity and muscular simulation through the use of various means, such as negative reps, forced reps and so on. Not to mention the heavy duty high intensity type training also states that muscular growth is made outside of the gym and not in in it, the gym just merely serves as a tool that you can use so that your body can send the growth signal to your muscles.

Below are couple of video links with Tom Platz in them, showing some people on how to train the heavy duty way. Take notice of how just one set taxes the body in an unbelievable way. If these videos are not motivation, then I don’t know what is!
